Paolo Vivian is a multidisciplinary artist and his artistic researches are focused into the field of collective memory and social behavior through mixing of different media: sculpture, installation, photography, performance, video.
PAOLO VIVIAN was born in Serso Pergine (Trento, Italy) in 1962. Since 1985 he started his artistic activities in exhibitions and cultural events in Italy and in abroad. His works have been presented in China at Shaanxi Province Art Museum a Xi`an (Shaanxi region) and at the Songyang City Art (Zhejiang region); at the program of Vilnius - European Capital of Culture 2009; on the occasion of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the city of Differdange, Luxembourg; in the project "Heroes Corner" at Mucsarnok (Kunsthalle), Budapest, curated by Simon Hewitt (CH); "Art & Nature" international sculpture project in Drenthe ,The Netherlands, under the auspices of the Dutch Queen; "Off-On" international sculpture project, Hamburg (DE); “The Cure of Folly” international curatorial project , Galleria Contempo, Pergine Valsugana (Trento), Italy, "Exi [s] t" curatorial project at Bulart gallery, Varna, Bulgaria and "Shape Shifters", international project curated by Raul Zamudio (USA); “Hortus Memoriae” at Shipka 6 Gallery , Sofia , Bulgaria with Italian Culture Institute in Sofia; Museum of the Porziuncola, Assisi; in Neustift Abbey, Varna (Bolzano), Italy; "Mythology of the wood", Klien Space and Ivano Castle and Borgo Valsugana (Trento), Italy; Gallery "Actus Magnus", Vilnius, Lithiania; Palazzo Ducale, Genoa, Italy; Contempo - international contemporary art festival, Varna, Bulgaria ecc. In 2014 he was the artist of the year and the municipality of Pergine Valsugana (Trento) dedicates a retrospective exhibition with catalog "Paolo Vivian: mappa memoria: (im) possible utopie". He has more than 17 solo exhibitions in Italy, Bulgaria and Lithuania. He has won many international awards for sculpture and contemporary art in Italy and abroad, among others are the First prize at the Sculpture Symposium in Wood, Siror Primiero, Italy (2012), First prize at the International Stone Sculpture Symposium, Differdange, Luxembourg (2008); The First prize and the Second prize at the 17th and 15th International Competition for the sculpture in wood ; Madonna di Campiglio (2005; 2003) in Italy, the Prize of the Artists at the 16th International Sculpture Festival “Camille Claudel”, La Bresse, France ( 2006) ecc. His monumental sculptures are part of public collections in the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Italy, Germany, Poland, Austria, Norway, France, Bulgaria, Czech republic. He was artistic director of Van Spitz International Symposium of stone and wooden sculpture ( 2016-2019); FreeDom – International sculpture meeting, Varna, Bulgaria (2016 -2015) ; The First International sculpture symposium "Memories of Amnesia”, Pergine Valsugana, Italy (2007), "Sei x Six"- the international sculpture project, Baselga di Pine, Italy (2008-2013). Since 2007 he is presented by Bulart gallery (Bulgaria / Belgium) and since 2017 he is presented by galleria Contempo (Italy) .
Lives and works in Palu` del Fersina, Trento, Italy.
