13 - 18 December 2016, Italy, Milan, [.BOX] Video Art Project Space, "Mare Nostrum", solo exhibition

Tuesday, December 13th  at 18:30 at the gallery [.BOX] Video Art Project Space in Milan (Via Federico Confalonieri 11) will be inaugurated with the presence of the artist the personal exhibition by Paolo Vivian titled "Mare Nostrum". Vivian presents his new installation of video and photography – one symbolist and poetical work, dedicated to the inner journey in search of the borders of the hope. It is a silent conversation about love, memory and inner transformation. The event is part of "Contemporis" – an international co -project between VisualContainer - the biggest international platform for videoart distribution, based in Italy and  Contempo - the international contemporary art  festival in Varna, Bulgaria, where the artist has  taken participation by invitation of the famous American curator Raul Zamudio.  Vivian`s project “Mare Nostrum” is curated by Dora Bulart.

1 - 6 novembre 2016, Italia, Belluno (Veneto), XXXI Ex Tempore di Scultura su Legno

From 1 to 6 November 2016, the beautiful city of Belluno (Veneto region) becomes the center of the wooden sculpture. It hosts the thirty-first edition of the EX Tempore of wooden sculpture. Paolo Vivian was invited to participate in this legendary competition, dedicated to woodcarving. Organized by the Consortium Belluno Centro Storico since 1986 the contest unites 22 artists from all over Italy, who will carve on trunks and pine panels, under free topic. The project of Vivian explores the state limit between the inner life connected with the spirit and the desire for inner purity, with the allowable tension in the chaotic visible life and illusory reality. The official presentation of the event will take place on Tuesday, November 1st  at 11:30  am at Astor Belluno in Martyrs' Square. The closing ceremony and awarding of the Prize of "Jury", "Belluno Stampa" and "F.I.D.A.P.A."  is on Sunday, November 6st  at 4:30 pm,  always in Martyrs' Square.

3 – 25 October 2016, Bulgaria, Varna, Morska gradina (The Sea garden), FREEDOM 2, International Exhibition of Monumental Sculpture

From 3 to 25 October 2016 in Varna, Bulgaria, the Morska gradina (Sea Garden) will host  FREEDOM 2 - the international exhibition of monumental sculpture in stone, metal and wood. The exhibition is the result of the creative residencies during the Second edition of the International Sculpture meeting, which is a prestigious event in the frame of VIII edition of CONTEMPO – international contemporary art festival. Paolo Vivian, the artistic director of the forum will participate in the exhibition with his stone sculpture "Opus Memoria"  , inspired by rich history of the marine capital of Bulgaria. The exhibition will  be open with presentation by the Mayor of Varna  Ivan Portnih, councilor of culture Antonya Yovcheva and festival curator Dora Doncheva. Organized:  Raya Georgieva Foundation with the financial support of the Municipality of Varna, Kultura Fund. After the exhibition closes all of the works will be posted in the city parks.

25 September - 3 October 2016, Bulgaria, Varna, Art Box C8 module, Contempo 8, "Fish Story" project curated by Raul Zamudio (USA)

Paolo Vivian was invited to participate in the international project "Fish Story" by the renowned curator from New York, Raul Zamudio. From 25th  September to 3rd October at the Sea Garden in Varna, Bulgaria it will be host the exhibition of sculpture, photography, installations and videos by 14 artists from Bulgaria, USA, Mexico, Iran, Italy, France, Norway, Finland and Puerto Rico. Two Italians are involved in the project – Stefano Cagol and Paolo Vivian . Among the other artists also are the names of S&P Stanikas, the Lithuanians living in France, known for their participation in the Venice Biennale (2003). The Fish story project takes a part of the program of the eighth edition of the CONTEMPO – the international contemporary art festival in Varna, in the Art Box C8 module. The exhibition is staged in alternative space. Tree containers for sea transportation are transformed into art galleries. Especially for the concept Vivian has created in place a new vertical installation of painted wooden cubes entitled "Colona Memoria".  The project is supported by US Embassy in Bulgaria.

20 September - 4 October 2016, Bulgaria, Varna, Freedom, 2 International Sculpture Meeting

Paolo Vivian was invited as the artistic director of the Second International Sculpture meeting FREEDOM  in Varna, Bulgaria.  The event is in the frame of VIII International contemporary art festival CONTEMPO, organized by the  Raya Georgievaoundation with the financial support of the program Fond Kultura of the Municipality of Varna. The forum is focused into the contemporary monumental sculpture in stone, wood and metal. After a selection among the projects of a group of artists, it were invited seven artists from four countries. They will work in an open studio, in front of the public in the Sea garden in Varna. Their projects, inspired by the theme INFINITY . Paolo Vivian will create stone sculpture  intitles  "Opus Memory" indicates the degradation of memory and the creation of new memories in an infinite recycling. Other participating artists are  Li Chao from China, Renzo Durante  from Italy, Jitka Kusova from Czech Rep. and Bulgarians Nikolay Ninov, Plamen Avramov and  Georgi Minchev. The closure of the event is with an exhibition of the newly created at the Sea Garden in Varna on 3 October 2016.

4 - 10 September 2016, Austria, Laa an der Thaya, First International Wooden Sculpture Symposium KUNSTHAUS LAA

From 4 to 10 September 2016 will be held the first international symposium of sculpture on wood in Laa an der Thaya, Austria. Seven artists from five countries will create their works in the garden of  KUNSTHAUS LAA  (The Art House). Paolo Vivian was invited with other six scultors  - Dr. Janos Kalmar Hungary / France, , Lidia Rosinska from Poland, Pavel Spelda from Czechia and  Dr. Rolf Laven, Werner Pirker, Elisabeth Lederberger-Lehoczky all from Austria. The symposium is organized by the municipality of the city of Laa an der Thaya with the artistic direction of Elizabeth Lederberger-Lehoczky. The theme of the forum s "Laa, a border town in the change." Paolo Vivian will create its new wooden sculpture intitled "Event Horizon"  where he will try to investigate thestate of mind of whose who had to live  is a condition of submission and fear and same time to find way to have a privacy even in a huge risks. The closure of the symposium with a presentation of the works will take place Saturday, September 10 at 17:00.

MAG / FESTIVAL is a platform that promotes contemporary artistic languages ​​related to music and art, through an event lasting four days. Organized by Emporio Malkovich & Röcken under the patronage of the Municipality of Sona (Verona) and with the support Bando Alle Ciance 2016 (Carta Giovani VR) the festival will take place in the park of the magnificent Villa Romani from  25th  to 28th  August 2016  in Sona (Veroma). 18 - 21 August 2016, Italy, loc. Poun / Van Spitz, Valle dei Mocheni (Trento), Van Spitz Holzbildhauer Symposium

From 18 to 21 August 2016 in the village of Poun / Van Spitz, in Valle dei Mocheni /Bersntol , in Trentino , Italy will be held the First International wooden sculpture symposium devoted to the nature and identity of the territory. The event, called "Van Spitz Holzbildhauer Symposium" - "Van Spitz Simposio di Scultura sul legno"  is organized by the municipality of Frassilongo / Garait in collaboration with the Pro Loco of Frassilongo, Community Alta Valsugana Bersntol, Avark Association, the Volunteer Fire Corps Brigade Frassilongo and  the Van Spitz Restaurant where, in his land the seven sculptors from the three countries will transform the place into a creative open-air laboratory, where they will share them inspiration with the audience. The artistic director of the is Paolo Vivian.  These four art days are devoted to the free interpretation of themes of Herding, Mining and Hunting. The symposium has an aim to enhance through the sculptural creation, the forest and landscape heritage of the locality of the Van Spitz. The invited artists are from Italy  -  Federico Vanzo , Luca Lisot, Marco Martalar , Roberto Nones  and  Paolo Vivian , and the foreign guests - Ana Paula Luna from Mexico and Markéta Vàradiovà  from the Czech Republic. The closure of the symposium is with the presentation of the newly created works and it will take the place on Sunday, 21st August at 5:30 pm.

11 - 14 August 2016, Italy, Melere of Trichiana (BL), Ex tempore of Land art

From 11 to 14 August 2016 at the tourist area of Melere di Trichiana (Belluno, Veneto ) will take place the Ex Tempore of Land Art with the participation of artists - Paolo Vivian, Paolo Moro and Nicola Cozzio. The event is in the framework of the 43rd edition of the Festival in Mountain, organized by Proloco of Trichiana (Belluno). Paolo Vivian will create a site-specific installation with natural stones entitled "Skeleton Monster" that materializes the concept of transiency and it is as a universal symbol where the powerful monster that lives deep in us is revealed in skeleton when "the desires were already memories".  The dimension of the installation is around 12 meters.

From 1 to 7 August 2016 Paolo Vivian participate in Lignum Summer Art - the Third edition of the International Sculpture Festival of wooden sculpture which will be held in Edolo in the Valley Camonica (Bresia). The topic of the event is “The Walking Trees". 32 are the selected artists  from Poland,  Germany,  Canada,  Mexico,  Lithuania,  Syria,  Argentina,  Italy . The event is included in the Summer Edolo Program "Contexto".   The event is organized by the Association Movida Wood and municipality of the city of Edolo with the artistic director  Ivan Mariotti.

26  - 30 July 2016, Italy, Asiago (Vicenza), Mezzaselva of Roano, SelvArt - 1st International Contest of Sculpture and Land Art

From  26  to 30 July  2016, the city of Mezzaselva of Roana ( Asiago, Vicenza) will host the first edition of  SelvArt – the International Contest for sculpture and land art. The forum will take place in the forests of that beautiful village.  It will not be dedicated to  the classic wooden sculpture but it is an artistic expression to use everything that  the forests and nature can offer, giving power to the imagination and free expression of Paolo Vivian and another six invited artists from Italy, Mexico and Argentina. Saturday,  30rd July  ia held the closure of the contest and the award ceremony followed by an acoustic concert in the park and the buffet.  All art lovers and fans are invited to view the works in process and to dialogue with the sculptors.  The event was sponsored by the municipality of the city of Roano  and it is organized with the collaboration of the Pro Loco of Mezzaselva.

23 - 30 June 2016, Czech Republic, Klášterec nad Ohří (Chomutov), ​​Krušné Mountains International Symposium of wood sculpture, "The Memory of the Landscape"

From 23 to 30 June 2016 Paolo Vivian will participate in the International Symposium of wood sculpture in the Czech Republic where he will work for the first time. Six artists from Italy, Japan and the Czech Republic will create their works in open air in the garden of the castle of the town of Klášterec nad Ohří. The theme of this edition of the symposium is "Water" which is a part of the general concept of finding traces of the Memory of the Landscape. Paolo Vivian will create its  "Lady water" - the totem of water and energy, strength and vitality from made by wood, steel and colorful wooden cubes. The symposium was organized with the support of the municipality of the city of Klášterec nad Ohří, Chomutov with the artistic direction of Jitka Kusova - Valeska. On Sunday, 29 June 2016  will be presented the works created during the symposium in the gardens of the castle Klášterec nad Ohří.

Paolo Vivian will participate at VIII edition of the Wooden Sculpture Contest "Premio San Vigilio". The event is hold in Trento, Italy in the occasion of the XXXIII Feste Vigliane with working times: Friday, June 17 from 3.00 pm to 11.00 pm; Saturday, June 18 from 3.00 pm to 01.00 am on Sunday 19 (time being extended to coincide with the "Magic Night" program ) and Sunday, June 19 from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm.  In the forum will participated 12 Italian artists, working on the open air in front of the audience. The topic of the contest is free. Vivian will create a new wooden Totem dedicated to his researches into the field of collective memory.

From 8 to 26 April 2016 at the M. Fogolino Gallery in Trento will be presented the exhibition of paintings and sculptures by  Carlo Girardi and Paolo Vivian. The event is a part of a series of initiatives to celebrate the 30 years activities of  "La Cerchia”- the Trentino artists association, in which the both authors are members. Entitled "(IN)VISIBILE", the exhibition brings together for the first time two artists connected through lifelong friendship, which has created since 30 years ago when they met during the very first collective of “La Cerchia” held in Pergine, where Carlo was among the exhibitors, and Paolo was still part of the audience. With that project, The Invisibile becomes Visible through the pictorial transfiguration of signs of inner reality (Girardi) and  by meta-mythologal sculptures of the codes of the memory (Vivian). The Invisible is evocative, that makes you dream for a journey between Present and Memory, beyond Matter and the Mysteries of the day. A journey between two artistic worlds where the desire to know the Spirit of things takes a visible form and it expresses its essence by new cromatic and sculptural interpretations; one journey as a connection tool to Anima Mundi; as a key to understanding  the Existence.
The exhibition opening will take place on Friday, April 8th, 2016 at 6.00 pm at the M. Fogolino Gallery (30 SS. Trinity st, Trento, Italy). Presentation will be done by Prof. Elizabeth Doniselli. The cocktail is offered by Maso Naranch (val di Gresta) with the wines by Cantina Rovere della Luna. From 10 to 23 March at the Galleria Civica G. Graffonara in Riva del Garda (Trento) will be present the exhibition of paintings, sculptures and installations of the Trentino artists Mario Alimede and Paolo Vivian. Intitled "Unquiet repose between Earth and The World", the exhibition, curated by Remo Forchini and Mario Cossali, represents an artistic dialogue between "artists  under different training and inspiration, contributing in any case by their particular beaches and on ships that match their intimate feel, the meeting between the physicality and toughness of the Earth with the subjectivity and self-consciousness which is the world. "(prof. M. Cossali).  The event is under the patronage  of the municipality of the city of  Riva del Garda. The official opening is on Thursday, 10th March at 6:30 pm with cocktail supported by Cantina Sociale di Rovere della Luna and Le More del Gelso di Riva. From 28 February to 20 March 2016 at the Museum Rocca Sforzesca in Dozza (Bologna) will be presented the collective exhibition of artists from Trentino art group "La Cerchia", entitled "Immagine Plurale", curated  by Elisabetta Doniselli and Adriano Fracalossi. The manifestation is part of the rich program with a series of events, dedicated to 30 annivesary of the foundation of the “La Cherchia”. In occasion of the event was edited the catalog with an introduction by Councillor of Culture of the Municipality of Trento - Andrea Robol and the President of Dozza Foundation City of Art -Simonetta Mingazzini. Paolo Vivian participates with five of his works - sculptures and wooden panels that are indicative of his art and his research into the field of collective memory. The exhibition will remain open until Sunday 20th March.

Paolo Vivian was invited to join to the curatorial project #20 Nocturni at the Bulart gallery in Varna, Bulgaria. The international exhibition presents works of painting, sculpture, sound installations and video of 40 artists of the gallery from Bulgaria, Italy, USA, France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, Ireland and other. # 20 Nocturni project was created in occasion of the 20 anniversary of foundation of the gallery and it includes a series of 20 events - exhibitions and meetings between collectors and artists of the gallery during the whole year.  To support ce;ebrations will be published  The  MemoBook  with critical essays, interviews and images from the gallery history who creates a kind of verbal portrait of the present artist. Paolo Vivian enters in the first exhibition # 1 Nocturni  ( whisch is held from 25 February to 9 March) where  he presented a mixed media object from his project "Chromosome" – an indicative work about his creative research into the field of collective memory.
